Hello!
My name is Ria Govil. I am the Founder of The Paree Project.
“Go back,” he shouted. Mama pulled me to the back of the temple, whispering that our menstrual cycles make us “impure.” From an early age, I was exposed to deep-seated gender biases surrounding menstruation.
Why are women sidelined from religious rituals while men participate freely?
As a young girl, the idea of such stigmas existing in the 21st century was completely baffling. Menstruation is a natural process experienced by half the world's population, yet women are outwardly denied of equal treatment. As I delved deeper into world of period poverty, I faced the harsh reality of how women in today’s modern society face such profound neglect. It was an unescapable truth of the world. I felt such shame, moreover a call to action.

I created The Paree Project to address the global issue of period poverty. It brings me joy to imagine the impact I can create, giving women the opportunities they inherently deserve.
